Year In/Year Out

Friday, December 29, 2006

NPH used to live outside Philadelphia, where the fantastic public radio station WXPN graces the airwaves like a crane.

Um, well, every year the staff at XPN compile their top 50 cd's of the year and play them, one after another, for the entire week between Christmas and New Year's Day. It's great fun. You can follow along online here. Also, you can listen to a live stream of XPN, but only for so long, since licensing agreements don't allow them to play a record in its entirety over the internet.

Stop over and take a listen.

As you prolly know, NPH, Warrensburg station KTBG broadcasts WXPN's "World Cafe" show every weeknight. I can only pick up the station in my car when I'm at the top of a hill, but still...

NPH was delighted to discover, once out east, that World Cafe is a daily show. Theretofore we had only heard it syndicated weekly. We used to be able to listen to it every day during our afternoon commute.

KTBG's daily syndication of it is a true thing, worthy of much praise--even if the reception is sketchy (NPH can only pick that station up on our way to Grandview).
