Bagging ON Biden

Friday, January 23, 2009

When I read the story about Joe's crack on Chief Justice Roberts during Wednesdays swearing in of senior staff, my reaction was, "Where's the story?" I still don't think it's a story, but having watched the video of it, it's clear that the President was not amused and that Biden was unclear about what was going on. It didn't look good. It's a funny line--"My memory is not as good as Justice Roberts"--but, in the context of what was happening and when, it wasn't helpful. You can read it all over Obama's face.

Does this mean that Biden's poop now stinks, Rocky?

It was a little disappointing... due more (in my opinion) to how it seemed he had no clue what he was supposed to be doing rather than his need to point out someone else's mistakes in order to minimize his own.

Oh well...

Maybe you can't really appreciate someone without the ability to be disappointed by them. This incident is disappointing, no doubt, but I take assurance from the easily forgettable fact that Biden is where he is for everything but his ceremonial gravitas.
